About Us


History


YouthBuild Gary  operates under its Parent organization Anew Life Youth Development Corporation, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organized under the laws of the State of Indiana. YouthBuild Gary began in 1992 as one of the five (5) national demonstration sites. We have been an affiliate of YouthBuild USA, https://youthbuilduse.org, in good standing since 1994 and has experienced tremendous success with several private, federal and state agencies. YouthBuild Gary has been the recipient of the follow federal grants:

Mission



YouthBuild Gary's mission is to provide services to youth between the ages of 16 - 24 to give them a better chance for themselves, their family, and the community, by assisting them with knowledge and skills needed to move form dependency to self - sufficiency.

Mentoring

Through the creation of a Life Plan youth are driven to make SMART, REALISTIC, and ACHIEVEABLE goals for future success and is paired with a Mentor to assist in them achieving those goals.

AmeriCorps

Through the AmeriCorps program participants learn the ethics of service to their community through Civic Engagement and the Restoration of low income housing.

Construction Training

Construction training is design to prepare our youth for the careers of tomorrow utilizing NCCER competency base curriculum.
